Instilling self-efficacy through educational opportunities

Parent Leadership
People Empowering People Communities is offered every year, emphasizing life experience as the text for developing leaders. Interested parents can also join the Center’s Parent Advisory Council to put their leadership skills into practice. Contact Cassandra Wilke for more information.
Girl Scouts
An active Girl Scout troop for young girls ages 5-12 is an opportunity for two generations to come together to form new friendships, support positive values, and participate in community service activities. For more information, contact Cassandra Wilke.
Peer Support and Social Connections
An informal English conversational group for parents who seek to gain confidence in speaking to go on to an ESL class. For more information, contact Cassandra Wilke.
Household Management
New groups emerge throughout the year to further equip parents to better manage their households. These classes can include Budgeting and Finance, Parenting Tips, COVID-19 Safety, Nutrition and Cooking.
Removing Barriers to Employment
The Family Center offers qualified parents two avenues to gain skills that can lead to better job outcomes – a driver’s education class for a learner’s permit and ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification. For more information, contact Cassandra Wilke, Family Center Program Coordinator.
Basic and Emergency Needs Assistance
This program assists individual families on an as-needed basis with cash assistance for rent, utilities, and other basic needs. At the holidays, families enrolled in the Center receive food and gift cards.
