Nutrition Matters – A Way Forward
Be a part of the solution to the food insecurity problem in our community!
Lack of access to healthy food is a problem that impacts hundreds of families like yours right here in Hartford.
In fact, Hartford has a 21.9% food insecurity rate compared to a statewide rate of 11.9%.
Join Family Life Education’s group of community members in a 10-week training about nutrition, making healthy lifestyle choices and what we can do collectively to help close the hunger gap.
When: Tuesdays – 10:00am to 12:00pm (September 21st – November 23rd)
Where: Family Life Education (57 Charter Oak Avenue in Hartford) Option to participate via Zoom available.
What You’ll Learn:
- Healthy meal planning
- Understanding food labels
- New recipes and cooking techniques from live cooking demonstrations
- Why we eat what we eat
- Improve the health of our community!
Participants who complete all 10 sessions will receive a $50.00 gift card to purchase healthy food for their families. Additional goodies will be distributed throughout the program and participants will have access to FLE’s Community Food Pantry. Childcare will be available with advance notice.

Please note this session is being offered in English. The next session which is scheduled to begin in January will have Spanish and English options.
