We are pleased to announce that Ms. Candida Flores has been appointed Executive Director of Family Life Education by the organization’s Board of Directors, effective July 21, 2008. She succeeds Chet Brodnicki, who has served as Interim Executive Director since the retirement of Beverly Ryan in December 2007.
Ms. Flores brings to her position more than twenty years of relevant experience in the human services, government and corporate sectors in both Connecticut and Puerto Rico. Most of her career has been devoted to working with people in under-served communities to help improve their physical and emotional well being. She has held senior leadership positions at organizations such as The Village for Families and Children, La Casa de Puerto Rico, Caguas (Puerto Rico) Downtown Development Corporation, the Connecticut Council of Family Service Agencies, and the Hispanic Health Council. She has also served as the Chief of Staff for New Haven Mayor John DeStefano, Jr. and as Special Assistant to former Connecticut Governor Lowell Weicker.
We are very excited to welcome Ms. Flores’ experience, expertise and passion for the mission of Family Life Education. Her enthusiasm for helping to improve the lives of the families we serve is contagious. Ms. Flores has spent much of her professional career working in the Hartford area, which has provided her with a tremendous knowledge of the people and communities that compose the City. She looks forward to building on the personal and professional relationships she has developed over the years to benefit Family Life Education and its clients. Together with the knowledge and skills of the staff, Ms. Flores is committed to delivering the relevant, high quality programs for which the organization is so well known.
I hope that you will take the opportunity to welcome Ms. Flores as our new Executive Director.
Sincerely,
Margaret Howell, President
Board of Directors
